Schools March Past:

UnknownDear Schools

Waratahs Rugby is proud to extend an invitation to your School to participate in the 2015 Schools March Past in a celebration of sport in NSW Schools.

The 2015 Schools March Past will be held at Allianz Stadium prior to the NSW Waratahs v Sharks match on Saturday 16th May 2015.

This event is a fantastic opportunity to put all school sports, including Rugby, in NSW on show, allowing schools to march around Allianz Stadium prior to an official Super Rugby match.

Schools are also given the opportunity to bring banners and/or flags to display during their march, as the occasion offers a great opportunity to promote your school publically to the wider Rugby community.

Please visit our dedicated information page:

Instructions of how to purchase tickets for supporters will be added at the end of the March.

If you have any questions, please email us at

Dear Parents,

We have received news from the SJRU that our first round is to be played on the second weekend of the school holidays.  Although we try to avoid this, sometimes we have no choice as all rounds need to fit within the season’s schedule of games.

Our first game will therefore be played on Friday 17th April or Sunday 19th, depending on whether you play in A or B’s.  Your team allocation will be sorted over the next couple of weeks during training times.  Training will continue during the school holidays on the Tuesday as always, however this is not compulsory as we do understand that people may be away during this time or just need a break. It’s entirely up to you but if you can make it, that would be great.

There are a handful of players who have registered but not paid yet.  We need all registrations settled asap. Once you’ve done this you will be given your training gear.

The following 5 boys responded first to the Macquarie and Waratahs free clinic:

Conor Dunn
Riley Jackson
Oliver Clark
Thomas Maclean
Zane Xistouris

Please fill in the attached waiver form (see link) and return it to me by tonight so we can register our players.

Unless you hear from me again, I’ll see you all at training this evening.  Tell your boys to bring their smile with them as I will be taking their ID photos.

U11’s – Change of Manager and update from new manager Jenny

With Mark Maclean on a slow road to recovery from a motorbike accident Jenny Dikeos has stepped up as manager. Mark has done a great job over the years and thank him again for his efforts on behalf of the team, as well as wish him a speedy recovery. Thanks to Jenny for stepping up, great teamwork.

Copy of Email from Jenny (Thursday 26th March 2015) below:

Hello Everyone,

Welcome back to all our parents and players and a huge welcome to those new to the club in 2015.  We hope you’ve enjoyed the last couple of training sessions and familiarised yourself with our coaches and some of our team members.

For those of you who don’t know me, I’m Zane’s mum and I will be the team’s manager this year.  At this stage we are still in the process of compiling all necessary documents required by the SJRU in order for your boys to play.  Below is a list of what I need from you all before our season commences.

Firstly and most importantly, please make sure you all pay for your registrations asap.
I will also require a copy of your son’s passport or birth certificate (if you haven’t done so already) which will confirm we have him playing in the appropriate age group.  You can email me a copy or bring it to the next training session where I can sight it and confirm his age.  This is a requirement to play and settles any discrepancies that other club managers may have regarding the age of our players.

At this stage, we do not have details of games for the season but I will advise you as soon as the SJRU make these available.  I can tell you that there will be approximately 14 rounds, plus finals, on weekends, but avoiding school holidays.  Every week, we run a parent volunteer roster where each family take it in turns to take home and wash the jerseys, bring the oranges or be Field Marshall at a game.

Our training night is every Tuesday night at 5:30 to 6:30pm but please arrive at 5:15pm for a warm up before our training session.  Be sure to bring a mouthguard, water bottle and head gear if you have it.

This Sunday, our club is having our season opening Welcome Day at Camperdown Oval from 3:00pm – 5:30pm.(Flyer attached) There will be a BBQ, jumping castle, a boot swap (swap boots that no longer fit), and loads of Petersham gear for sale (caps, t’shirts).  There will also be TriForce playing gear available for sale (mouthguard, headgear) and all our players who have paid their registration fees will receive their Petersham JRUFC training shirt, shorts and socks.   Please note that if you have not paid, you cannot receive your training gear.

We hope you all can make it this Sunday and look forward to meeting everyone.

Shammies Song

We are encouraging the boys and girls (yeh I know, the words says boys) to sing along to the Petersham song. Print out copies and distribute to the kids and let them sing along after the game!

We had a win today

We are the boys you know of

We showed ‘em how to play

Wherever you may be

The MAROON and BLUE you’ll see

Oh aren’t we a wonderful credit to our locality

Oh when the SHAMMIES come marching in

Oh when the SHAMMIES come marching in

I wanna be in that number

When the SHAMMIES come marching in…

Welcome to PJRU WordPress News

Hopefully this takes off as the medium of choice for communications across the group. The use of Facebook is probably too broad and public. This tool allows anyone who is authorised to publish an update and allow user groups to read it. The tool allows for different reader groups e.g. Committee, U9’s , Everyone etc. this will get developed out in the next few weeks.
